Cineverse has unveiled an electrifying new teaser for the highly anticipated horror remake of "The Toxic Avenger," gearing up for a thrilling theatrical release this August, as summer draws to a close. After a two-year anticipation since its initial premiere at genre festivals, it's finally time to unleash Toxie upon all that is wicked!
The 1984 original "The Toxic Avenger," a Lloyd Kaufman/Troma horror cult classic, introduced the world to one of the most memorable mutant heroes, "Toxie." It spawned numerous sequels and spin-offs, but now Troma has joined forces with Legendary for an all-new interpretation. Macon Blair's reboot of "The Toxic Avenger" centers on Winston Gooze (played by Peter Dinklage), an everyday struggling janitor who, following a horrifying toxic accident, evolves into a new kind of hero: The Toxic Avenger! Armed with superhuman strength and a glowing mop, he must race against the ticking clock to rescue his son and thwart a ruthless, power-mad corporate tyrant determined to harness toxic superpowers for his own gain.
The film boasts an impressive supporting cast, including Jacob Tremblay, Taylour Paige, Julia Davis, Jonny Coyne, Elijah Wood, and Kevin Bacon. This teaser represents a significant leap forward from its predecessor, condensing a potent impact into a mere 30 seconds yet brimming with intense, mind-blowing footage that leaves a lasting impression.

Macon Blair, the American actor-filmmaker, has penned and directed this 2023 update of "The Toxic Avenger," marking his second feature film after 2017's "I Don't Feel at Home in This World Anymore." The script is based on the original "The Toxic Avenger" movie by Lloyd Kaufman and Joe Ritter. The film is produced by Alex Garcia, Michael Herz, Lloyd Kaufman, and Mary Parent. It premiered at Fantastic Fest 2023 a couple of years ago and also screened at Beyond Fest that year.
