Originally published in 1981, King's psychological horror novel, "Cujo," depicted a once-adorable St. Bernard who, after being bitten by a bat, transforms into a menacing adversary feared by all. In the 1983 film adaptation, Donna (played by Dee Wallace) and her son Tad (Danny Pintauro) find themselves in a life-or-death struggle with the enraged canine.

King's novels, beginning with the iconic "Carrie" in 1976, have long been favorites of Hollywood for film adaptations. Classics such as "The Shining," "The Shawshank Redemption," "Stand by Me," "It," and its sequel "It Chapter Two" have all successfully transitioned from page to screen. More recent adaptations include "Salem's Lot," a horror drama starring Lewis Pullman and Alfre Woodard, which follows an author returning to his hometown in search of inspiration only to discover it besieged by a monstrous force.

Additionally, Mike Flanagan has collaborated with King on adaptations like "Life of Chuck," "Doctor Sleep," and "Gerald's Game." Lionsgate has acquired the rights to King's 1979 dystopian novel, "The Long Walk," with Francis Lawrence attached to direct. Throughout his storied career, King has authored approximately 65 novels and over 200 short stories, many of which have sold worldwide and been eagerly snapped up for film and television adaptations, further cementing his legacy in the entertainment industry.
