Steve Buscemi has gracefully ascended to join the star-studded ensemble of "Wild Horse Nine," a highly anticipated Searchlight Pictures feature helmed by the acclaimed director Martin McDonagh. This marks McDonagh's cinematic return following the critically lauded "The Banshees of Inisherin." Already astride the dark comedic drama's saddle are Sam Rockwell, a veteran from McDonagh's "Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri," alongside John Malkovich and Parker Posey, all set to embark on a shoot later this month in the mystical Rapa Nui, famously known as Easter Island.

Details concerning the plot and characters remain shrouded in secrecy, making this production an exceptional rarity—especially for an American or British film—to lens on this isolated island paradise, situated a whopping 3,700 kilometers off the Chilean coast and ranking among Earth's most remote inhabited territories. Rapa Nui, governed by the Rapa Nui National Park, stands as one of the precious few havens untouched by modernity's conveniences.

Buscemi steps into a role originally destined for Mark Ruffalo. Graham Broadbent and Pete Czernin, McDonagh's long-standing producing partners, are producing alongside Anita Overland ("Blitz"). Blueprint Pictures and Film4 serve as the production houses behind this venture. Taylor Friedman, Searchlight's Senior Vice President of Production, and Pete Spencer, Director of Development and Production, are overseeing the project.

Buscemi, a highly esteemed and seasoned actor, boasts a portfolio adorned with cinematic classics like "Reservoir Dogs," "Fargo," "The Big Lebowski," "Con Air," and the television series "Boardwalk Empire." His voice has become a staple in the "Hotel Transylvania" film franchise and lent life to Starscream in "Transformers: The Movie." He will soon captivate audiences alongside Jenna Ortega in the Netflix series "Wednesday."

Beyond his acting prowess, Buscemi also dons the director's hat, with his latest film, "The Listener," starring Tessa Thompson, premiering at the prestigious Venice Film Festival in 2022. He has also helmed episodes of "30 Rock," "Portlandia," and the recent post-apocalyptic series "Miracle Workers." Buscemi is represented by UTA and The Gotham Group.
