Dubbed as an “adrenaline-fueled reinvention” of the “cult classic,” “Road House” takes us through the journey of ex-UFC warrior Dalton (portrayed by Gyllenhaal), who embarks on a new chapter as a bouncer at a Florida Keys roadhouse. However, this paradise turns out to be far from what meets the eye.

Directed by Doug Liman, the film promises a thrilling ride filled with bone-crunching fights, explosive action, boat chases, and “a sprinkle of whimsical surprises along the way.”

Back in March 2023, Gyllenhaal was spotted filming scenes for the movie amidst the excitement of the UFC 285 mixed martial arts event in Las Vegas. The first trailer, released on Jan. 25, introduces Dalton, a former UFC fighter with a penchant for tussles with multiple opponents.

After a bar owner catches him in a fierce fight with a group of tough guys, she offers him a job at her roadhouse, “which has been attracting the wrong clientele.” Dalton accepts the offer, unaware that it will not only lead him to the center of a storm but also draw the attention of a nefarious new crew.

“People seem a little aggressive around here,” Dalton remarks in the preview, as scenes of brawls, booze, and blood unfold.

Led by Gyllenhaal, the ensemble cast is rounded out by Daniela Melchior, Billy Magnussen, Jessica Williams, Joaquim de Almeida, and Lukas Gage. The film also boasts appearances from Arturo Castro, B.K. Cannon, Beau Knapp, Darren Barnet, Dominique Columbus, and UFC fighter Conor McGregor in his maiden film role.

Get ready for an action-packed thrill ride as “Road House” premiers globally on Prime Video on Thursday, March 21.
