"I am a product of our modern era," proclaims the official trailer for the indie thriller, "Saint Clare," set to captivate audiences this summer, including via Video On Demand (VOD). For those eager to witness its chills, the film arrives next month. Having first premiered at the prestigious 2024 Taormina Film Festival, "Saint Clare" bears the signature of Italian filmmaker Mitzi Peirone. Its chilling narrative also played at the UK's FrightFest last autumn and various other festivals.
Clare Bleecker, portrayed by Bella Thorne, is an unassuming Catholic high school student who resides with her grandparents following the loss of her parents. She may seem ordinary, but when confronted by the malevolent forces lurking in her small town, Clare is prepared to go to any lengths to safeguard those she loves. Based on Don Roff's novel series "Clare at Sixteen," albeit with a 26-year-old actress in the lead role, the film promises an intense and gripping journey.
Joining Thorne in this dark saga are Ryan Phillippe, Rebecca DeMornay, Frank Whaley, Bart Johnson, Erica Dasher, among others. The narrative, dark and violent from the outset, descends into an even deeper abyss as Clare becomes ensnared in a web of corruption.
In this haunting tale, Clare Bleecker, a solitary figure played by Bella Thorne, is plagued by voices compelling her to eliminate those with ill intentions, always managing to evade detection. However, her final act of vigilantism pulls her into a treacherous labyrinth of corruption, human trafficking, and otherworldly visions.
Under the directorial prowess of Italian filmmaker and writer Mitzi Peirone, whose credits include "Braid" and several short films, "Saint Clare" is a cinematic tour de force. The screenplay, penned by Peirone and Guinevere Turner, adapts Don Roff's novel series with both fidelity and creativity. Produced by Thor Bradwell, David Chackler, Arielle Elwes, and Joel Michaely, the film made its debut at the 2024 Taormina Film Festival in Italy.
Quiver Distributions will unleash Peirone's "Saint Clare" thriller in select US theaters and on VOD starting July 18th, 2025. Are you ready to embark on this chilling journey?
