Lionsgate announced today that '1992' — Vromen's compelling crime thriller — will hit theaters on August 30th. Snoop Dogg joins the team as executive producer through his Death Row Pictures, with Gibson, renowned for his roles in the 'Fast & Furious' franchise, leading the cast alongside Scott Eastwood and the late Ray Liotta.

The trailer showcases Gibson as Mercer, a man struggling to mend bridges with his son (Christopher Ammanuel) amidst the Los Angeles riots sparked by the Rodney King verdict. Mercer's path crosses with a father-son duo (Liotta and Eastwood) bent on stealing catalytic converters from the factory he works in.

Vromen, who also helmed 'The Iceman,' directs from a script he co-wrote with Sascha Penn. The film is produced by a stellar team including Vromen, Penn, Andreas Rommel, Maurice Fadida, and Adam Kolbrenner. '1992' reunites Snoop Dogg and Gibson, who previously shared the screen in John Singleton's 'Baby Boy.'

"1992 was a transformative year for me, from 'Deep Cover' to 'The Chronic,'" said Snoop Dogg. "As my life was taking shape, Los Angeles was unraveling. '1992' is a heist movie that captures the essence of that era. This film is a testament to an iconic L.A. moment. Ariel crafted an outstanding film that brings that time to life. From our first collaboration in 'Baby Boy' to this performance in '1992,' I had to be a part of it. And it's only fitting that this film is under Death Row Pictures, synonymous with L.A. culture in the '90s."

Gibson expressed his gratitude for Snoop Dogg's involvement and for the opportunity to work with Liotta, who passed away in May 2022. "Ray Liotta blessed us all with his presence on this film," said Gibson. "For '1992' to be Ray's final offering, we are honored to have captured such a powerful and haunting performance."

Adam Fogelson, the chair of Lionsgate Motion Picture Group, praised Gibson's dedication and talent, stating, "I'm grateful to have witnessed Tyrese's infectious enthusiasm and brilliance firsthand in our numerous collaborations." He also acknowledged Snoop Dogg's personal connection to the material, adding, "His team at Death Row Pictures is the perfect partner for this project."
