The original "Tangled," which premiered in 2010, captivated audiences with its tale of Rapunzel, voiced with enchanting charm by Mandy Moore. Now, Jennifer Kaytin Robinson, who is steering Sony's reboot of "I Know What You Did Last Summer," has penned the latest iteration of the screenplay for this reimagined "Tangled" film. Joining her in the producer's chair are Kristin Burr of Burr! Productions and the Emmy-winning Lucy Kitada ("The Baby-Sitters Club"), ensuring a creative synergy that promises to elevate the story further.

While casting details remain shrouded in mystery, anticipation builds around the prospect of seeing Rapunzel's timeless tale come to life once more. Based on the Brothers Grimm's classic fairy tale, the original "Tangled" centered on Rapunzel (Moore), a long-haired beauty confined to a tower until she devises an audacious plan with a dashing thief (Zachary Levi). The film's global success, amassing over $590 million at the box office and earning an Oscar nomination for "I See the Light," underscores its enduring appeal.

Disney remains steadfast in its commitment to bringing beloved characters to life through its live-action remakes. This month, director Barry Jenkins' prequel "Mufasa: The Lion King" roars into theaters, while March will see the release of "Snow White," led by Rachel Zegler. Furthermore, the teaser trailer for the live-action "Lilo & Stitch" has whetted appetites ahead of its May debut.

Gracey, renowned for directing Hugh Jackman, Zac Efron, and Michelle Williams in the blockbuster musical "The Greatest Showman," which earned $434 million worldwide and a Best Song Oscar nomination for "This Is Me," brings a wealth of experience and creativity to the project. In his review for The Hollywood Reporter, critic Todd McCarthy hailed "Tangled" as a "musicalized old-school Broadway tale infused with broad comedy and action, rendered in stunning 3D."

Deadline was the first to break the news about Disney's live-action adaptation of "Tangled," igniting excitement among fans eagerly awaiting the next chapter in Rapunzel's legendary journey.
