Episode 5 of "Light Shop" kicks off with the narrator pondering on the astonishing similarity in accounts shared by individuals who have brushed with death, setting the narrative tone for the unfolding realities of our characters' lives.
Lee Ji-young had just concluded her preparations to part ways with Hyun-min, following an ultimatum issued by his mother. Meanwhile, Hyun-min was eagerly making his way to meet Ji-young. Elsewhere, Seon-hae and her lover, Park Hye-won—the enigmatic woman donning red heels—were on an apartment hunt together but found themselves entangled in a fiery dispute over societal perceptions of their age-disparate relationship.
Concurrently, Oh Seung-won, a bus driver who had once narrowly drowned Ji-young in an elevator mishap, observed a minor flaw in his bus and resolved to take it to the garage. Yet, the relentless rain persisted, prompting passengers to continue boarding despite his intentions. Among the passengers were Hyun-min, Hye-won, and Seon-hae. Soon, Heo Ji-woong joined them, accompanied by Hyun-ju and her mother, who were headed home.
As Ji-young ventured out to meet Hyun-min, she witnessed a harrowing scene—the bus tumbling off a bridge and plunging into the river. Her inability to communicate verbally left her powerless to summon help, forcing her to bear witness to the catastrophe in despair.
The victims were swiftly rushed to the emergency ward, where the bus driver, Hyun-ju's mother, and Hye-won succumbed to their injuries. Hye-won's final act of bravery was to shield Seon-hae during the crash, costing her own life. Devastated, Hyun-min's mother sent Ji-young a text message from his phone, blaming her for his critical condition, even though he was in a coma. Before Ji-young could dispel the misunderstanding, overwhelmed by guilt, she took her own life in her apartment, her sorrow too deep to bear.
