At the Golden Globes 2025, Matt Reeves unveiled intriguing insights into "The Batman 2," vowing to deliver a "radically distinct" interpretation of the DC superhero and a primary antagonist that even the most astute comic book enthusiasts won't foresee. When MTV's Josh Horowitz inquired about the director's thoughts on online speculation surrounding the sequel's adversary, with Horowitz noting that Mr. Freeze's name frequently emerged, Reeves responded with a knowing chuckle. "You just glance at those theories casually and think, 'Oh, is that their current guess? Fascinating!'" he remarked. "Ultimately, you focus on your work and strive to execute it to the best of your abilities."

Reeves wisely refrained from revealing the identity of the upcoming villain, but he hinted that it would be a shocker. With a smile, he said, "I believe so, I hope so," before diving into an exhilarating teaser about the film. "I'm incredibly enthusiastic about what we're crafting. I can hardly wait to unveil it to everyone. The narrative continues in a specific manner while being entirely different in another. It will showcase a new facet of Rob[ert Pattinson]'s character. I think it's going to be truly awesome."

Despite the script still being in its final touches, Reeves revealed that they aim to commence filming this year, aiming for the sequel's release on October 1, 2027. In 2022's "The Batman," Pattinson's Dark Knight, in just his second year of vigilantism, battled Paul Dano's enigmatic serial killer, the Riddler, who targeted Gotham's elite. The film also starred Zoë Kravitz as Selina Kyle/Catwoman, John Turturro as Carmine Falcone, Jeffrey Wright as Jim Gordon, and Colin Farrell as Oswald Cobb/The Penguin.
