Armie Hammer is making a triumphant return to the silver screen. More than a year after the Los Angeles Police Department wrapped up their extensive probe into the "Call Me by Your Name" star, who faced allegations of sexual assault—which he steadfastly denied—Hammer has secured a starring role in Uwe Boll's forthcoming flick, "Dark Knight," as confirmed by E! News.
Initially reported by Variety, Hammer, who was also the center of bizarre cannibalism rumors, is poised to embody the lead character in this upcoming vigilante thriller, with filming set to commence later this month. News of the 38-year-old's leading part arrives just weeks after he secured a role in the upcoming Western, "The Frontier Crucible," alongside "Shameless" star William H. Macy and Thomas Jane.
Indeed, Hammer recently opened up about his hectic and bustling schedule. "I'm turning down jobs," he enthused on the "Your Mom's House" podcast earlier this month. "My dance card is getting pretty full."
Though it will be over a year before either of Hammer's new endeavors hit theaters, he did recently make a comeback in an acting role since 2022 in the music video for Georgie Leahy's song "Typical Squeeze." In the clip, Hammer appears to poke fun at the cannibal rumors that once shadowed him, with his character named Kannibal Ken, and a sequence of CGI body parts flashing across the screen after his fleeting appearance.
Of course, his recent music video gig wasn't the first time Hammer, who shares children Harper, 10, and Ford, 7, with his ex-wife Elizabeth Chambers, has lightened the mood about the past controversy. He recently admitted that he "likes" the gossip surrounding the cannibalism claims.
"I'm not gonna lie," Hammer explained in the inaugural episode of his "Hammer Time" podcast in October. "I kind of like the cannibal stuff now. I'm just like, 'Hey, I'm a cannibal.' What makes more noise? 'Armie Hammer is a cannibal' or 'Armie Hammer might not be a cannibal'?"
And he further doubled down on his fetish for bondage that initially sparked the cannibal rumors. "I like the idea that you are so completely mine," the "Social Network" alumnus elaborated on another episode of "Hammer Time" earlier this month. "I can do whatever I want, and you love it because you know you're mine. This possession kind of thing, that's just fun to talk about, especially if you're drunk or stoned or high at night and you're texting."
He emphasized that his leaked messages were never meant to be taken seriously. "While you're saying it, you're chuckling to yourself, like, 'I'm gonna fucking cut your toe off and keep it in my pocket so I got a piece of you everywhere I go, ha ha ha,'" Hammer recalled. "Then it gets read in the court of public opinion and everyone goes, 'You're insane.'"
