The plotline for the fourth installment of Tobey Maguire's Spider-Man film seems to be a captivating one, with Mattson Tomlin, co-writer of The Batman: Part II, pitching his vision for Maguire's Peter Parker's life. The buzz around the fourth part started in July when a fan on X (formerly Twitter) asked him, "If you were to write a screenplay, would you have interest or a vision for your take on Spider-Man? If so, what do you find interesting about the character?" Tomlin replied, "Honestly, right now my main interest in this respect would be to write a Spider-Man 4 where Tobey's Spider-Man is juggling being a husband and a father." He added, "Spider-Man as a father is where I gravitate towards given the last 8 films."

Recently, another fan asked if there was "any movement" on the new film, to which Tomlin replied, "Slow and steady wins the race. There won't be anything to say about that for a long time (if ever!) because it involves a lot of people and politics and things going right that have nothing to do with me, but I haven't gotten a 'no' yet!"

Tobey Maguire's 'Spider-Man' film, which first premiered in 2002 under Sami Raimi's direction, starred Maguire alongside Kirsten Dunst as his love interest Mary Jane Watson, Wilem Dafoe as the Green Goblin/Norman Osborn, and James France as Peter's best friend and Norman's son, Harry Osborn. Following the first part, two massively successful sequels followed in 2004 and 2007. Maguire later appeared in 2021's Spider-Man: No Way Home in the Marvel Cinematic Universe alongside Tom Holland and Andrew Garfield (Amazing Spider-Man), as part of a multiverse event.
