Will Smith may soon be reprising one of his iconic roles from the past. During a live appearance on Twitch streamer xQc’s channel, Smith entertained fan inquiries, with one particularly eager fan inquiring about the prospects of a sequel to the 2008 superhero flick "Hancock." Directed by Peter Berg, this film showcased Smith as Hancock, an alcoholic superhero striving to revitalize his tarnished public image and safeguard the city of Los Angeles after being saved by a PR executive (played by Jason Bateman) and crossing paths with the executive's wife (played by Charlize Theron).

When prodded about a potential follow-up, Smith playfully remarked, "They're spilling all my secrets." The actor then teased, "There's an incredibly cool concept for 'Hancock 2' floating around. We haven't even begun discussions, but I'll give you a tiny hint—Zendaya might be approached for a role in 'Hancock 2.'"

This isn't the first time hints of a sequel have emerged. In a 2012 interview, Berg affirmed his intentions to create a sequel to the film. "We've been brainstorming about the sequel among Will Smith, producers Michael Mann and Akiva Goldman, and myself. We're all on board, but the challenge lies in coordinating our schedules. Last year, we did have a series of meetings where we began to develop an idea for the sequel—an idea actually conceived by Will Smith. So, I believe it will happen; it's just a matter of when," he shared back then.

Furthermore, Theron has expressed her enthusiasm for a sequel, stating she would join "in a heartbeat." "For a period, we did discuss a sequel," Theron told ComicBook.com. "I think it was soon after the movie's release, but not in recent times. We'll be superheroes with our walkers, you know. And I'd still be in."

"Hancock" wouldn't be the only Smith film set for a revival. The actor recently starred in "Bad Boys for Life," released in 2024, and in March 2022, it was announced that a sequel to "I Am Legend" is in the works, with Michael B. Jordan joining the cast. Akiva Goldsman, co-writer of the original 2007 post-apocalyptic film, will pen the sequel for Warner Bros. Although the original film concluded with Smith's scientist character succumbing to his fate while seeking a cure for a plague that decimated humanity and transformed survivors into monsters, it remains unclear how he might return for the sequel.

Nevertheless, Smith has hinted at the film, saying, "Michael B. Jordan possesses a level of understanding that sets him apart. He's truly one of a kind."
