On Monday, police announced the tragic passing of actor Song Young-kyu, who captured hearts in the 2019 comedy film "Extreme Job." Song was discovered deceased by an acquaintance inside a vehicle parked within a residential complex in Yongin, situated just south of Seoul, around the early hours of 8 a.m. Preliminary investigations by authorities revealed no indications of foul play, nor was any suicide note found.
The actor had recently been entangled in controversy after being apprehended for drunk driving in Yongin back in June. Born in 1970, Song's journey in the limelight began with his debut in a children's musical in 1994. Following his memorable supporting turn in the blockbuster action-comedy "Extreme Job," he went on to grace numerous dramas, films, and theatrical performances, leaving an indelible mark on the entertainment scene.
Among his recent credits were roles in the acclaimed Korean original series "Narco-Saints" (2022) on Netflix and "Big Bet" (2022) on Disney+. At the time of his untimely demise, Song was actively featured in the ongoing dramas "The Defects" on ENA and "Try" on SBS TV. He is mourned by his wife and two daughters, who will forever cherish his memory.
