Apple TV+ has secured the rights to adapt Marissa Stapley's smash hit novel, "Lucky," into a gripping series, with the esteemed Anya Taylor-Joy set to steal the spotlight in the leading role. This limited series, where Taylor-Joy (renowned for her roles in "Furiosa" and "The Queen's Gambit") will also don the hat of an executive producer, stems from the creative minds at Apple Studios and Reese Witherspoon's Hello Sunshine (the novel was featured in Reese's Book Club in 2021). Jonathan Tropper, the mind behind Apple's "See" and the upcoming "Your Friends & Neighbors," serves as the series' creator and co-showrunner alongside Cassie Pappas (known for "Silo" and "Griselda").

This adaptation marks Taylor-Joy's second venture with Apple, following her starring role in the upcoming feature film "The Gorge," set to premiere next year. Witherspoon, too, maintains a strong bond with Apple TV+ through "The Morning Show," where she stars and executive produces.

In a statement, Witherspoon expressed, "Reese's Book Club was conceived with the mission to foster deeper connections — to the narratives, their tellers, and the community we are nurturing. It is profoundly fulfilling to amplify these female-driven stories and their authors, witness our community embracing them, and then witnessing them breathe new life on screen. We are thrilled to collaborate with Apple TV+, the exceptional Anya Taylor-Joy, our brilliant creator Jonathan Tropper, and his esteemed co-showrunner Cassie Pappas, to present this captivating series based on Marissa Stapley's mesmerizing novel to audiences worldwide."

In "Lucky," Taylor-Joy embodies a young woman who, despite her upbringing in the treacherous world of crime, has successfully distanced herself from it. However, she is compelled to rekindle her darker, criminal persona in a desperate bid to escape her haunting past.

Taylor-Joy enthused, "Hello Sunshine consistently excels in amplifying women's voices, and I am elated to join the team alongside Jonathan, Cassie, and Apple TV+ to breathe life into 'Lucky.'"

Tropper, who has a comprehensive deal with Apple TV+, will executive produce under his Tropper Ink banner, alongside Pappas, Witherspoon, and Lauren Neustadter for Hello Sunshine, and Taylor-Joy through her company LadyKiller.

Taylor-Joy has garnered SAG, Golden Globe, and Critics' Choice awards, and was nominated for an Emmy for her role in "The Queen's Gambit" on Netflix. She stars alongside Chris Evans, Salma Hayek, and Brendan Fraser in the forthcoming film "Sacrifice," and her other recent credits include "The Menu" and "Dune: Part Two." Taylor-Joy is represented by CAA, The Way Management, and Felker Toczek. Stapley is represented by CAA on behalf of Samantha Haywood of Transatlantic Literary Agency.
