Ariana Grande responded this week to a recent assertion made by Elvira, the iconic horror hostess portrayed by Cassandra Peterson. During an event at Knotts Berry Farm, Peterson's claim that one of her most disappointing encounters with a celebrity unfolded when Grande, accompanied by a large contingent of friends and family, attended an Elvira performance but declined a photo opportunity with her, went viral.
"Let me recount briefly... she arrived with an entourage of 20 guests, demanding 20, no, 21 tickets," said the actress, also known as the Mistress of the Dark, in a video clip that Peterson later shared online. "We accommodated her request and handed over the tickets. She then came backstage, inquiring if I could pose for pictures with all her friends and relatives she had brought along."
In the video, Peterson further recounted how she obliged to the request and even signed autographs for the entire group. "Afterwards, I asked her, 'Can we snap a photo together?' She replied, 'Nah, I don't really do that,'" she recounted. Peterson added that Grande left the venue before Elvira's set, abandoning the rest of her group in the audience.
In response to Peterson's post on social media, Grande commented, "I'm deeply saddened to see this. Honestly, I don't even recall having the chance to meet you because I suffered an anxiety attack and, as I recall, I left before the rest of my family (this incident occurred roughly seven years ago, during a time when I struggled immensely with being in public, especially in crowded or loud settings)... But if my memory is flawed about this moment, I offer my heartfelt apologies for any offense I may have caused you."
