Are you swooning over Ariana Grande's new hair? Oh, my gosh, thanks for asking—she just gave us a whole new look! The Wicked actress debuted a fresh take on her tresses ahead of joining Cynthia Erivo on the sequel's press tour, and it's a far cry from her bleach blonde locks we've seen since 2022. In a cheeky Instagram post on October 29, Ariana posed in front of a mirror with her new brunette curls and wrote, "It's good to see me, isn't it?"
And it's not just us who are smitten with the darker shade. Even her hair colorist, Francesco De Chiara, couldn't help but gush over the stunning transformation, reposting the photo to his Instagram Story with a simple "Here she is." On Ariana's own post, Francesco added, "We’re back amore," teasing a fresh start for the "Positions" singer.

Ariana's return to her roots might be a way to say goodbye to Glinda, as she previously said she "needed" to go blonde to play the good witch in Wicked and Wicked: For Good. "Even though I was wearing wigs, I needed to be blonde, too," Ariana, 32, explained to Vogue in 2024, noting that she even dyed her eyebrows to match the lighter shade of Glinda's. "It didn't make any sense when I had my dark brows," she added.
But Ariana didn't just dye her hair to embody the character—she also faced criticism for changing her vocal register to fully enter into Oz. "Maybe people underestimate how long we spent finding and disappearing into these women," she told Variety last year of the backlash. "When certain inflections or mannerisms take time to melt away, sometimes people poke fun. But we had a job to do, and we had things to get lost in—because that’s what the piece required."
While Ariana's return to brunette may signify a return to her pop girl persona—she will embark on a tour for her eternal sunshine album this summer—she has forever been changed by Glinda. "Certain things maybe won’t melt away," she added to Variety. "Some will, but I’m really grateful for the pieces that will stay with us forever."
