The illustrious singer, Ashlee Simpson, whose last solo opus 'Bittersweet World' graced our ears in 2008, has revealed her triumphant return to the recording studio. After a brief hiatus from the music scene, Simpson has confirmed that she's back to crafting fresh solos. On the eve of the 20th anniversary of her debut LP 'Autobiography', Simpson will release an expanded edition of the album, and in an interview with Stereogum, she disclosed her current status: "I'm in the studio, creating new melodies." When queried about the possibility of a full-fledged album, she revealed, "I'm working on songs one by one, and we'll see how it shapes up." However, she hinted with a smile, "I'm certain it'll eventually transform into an album."

Regarding the musical direction, Simpson noted that her sound has matured over the years. "I've grown up, and the music reflects that. Currently, I'm leaning more towards live music, so the direction might shift, but I'm thoroughly content with where we are now," she said, adding, "It's more of a fun, rocky ambiance."

When asked about potential collaborators, the "Pieces of Me" singer expressed her interest in teaming up with iconic artists like Alanis Morissette, Fiona Apple, and Jewel. However, she confessed, "At the moment, I'm absolutely enamored with Chappell [Roan]. Her music is breathtaking. I adore her entire album, 'The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess.'"

Simpson also addressed her notorious lip-sync blunder on Saturday Night Live, revealing the positive aspect of that embarrassing incident. "The backlash was intense, but it taught me the strength within myself and the unwavering support of my fans. Their loyalty enabled me to rise above the adversity, fight back, and continue performing for them," she reminisced.

Back in March, Simpson told Distractify that her daughter, Jagger Snow, had sparked her renewed enthusiasm for music. "She's the reason I'm thrilled to be making music again," she confessed. "My daughter has a keen desire to sing with me, so she'll definitely be a part of the studio sessions." Despite a 16-year gap since her last solo album, Simpson has kept busy, collaborating with her husband Evan Ross as a duo, releasing an EP in 2018 under the moniker 'Ashlee + Evan,' which coincided with their brief E! reality series of the same name.
