Barack Obama has garnered the title of delivering the most endearing Mother's Day tribute. To celebrate the special occasion honoring his spouse of 33 years, Michelle Obama, the former president shared a rare photograph of the ex-first lady with their daughters, Malia Obama, 26, and Sasha Obama, 23, on X (formerly known as Twitter) on May 11.
In the timeless black-and-white image, the 61-year-old Michelle is seen enveloping Malia, whose long braids adorned with two face-framing tendrils, in a protective embrace, her arm wrapped around her daughter's head as she leans in close. Meanwhile, Sasha, sporting straight hair, a tank top, and a denim jacket casually draped off her shoulder, hugs her mother around the waist from behind.
Accompanying the heartwarming snapshot, Barack penned, "@MichelleObama, the girls and I are incredibly fortunate to have you in our lives. We adore you." The 63-year-old also extended a heartfelt message to all the matriarchs, adding, "Happy Mother's Day to all the extraordinary moms and mother-figures out there!"
Although Malia and Sasha may not frequently grace public appearances, Michelle and Barack have recently offered glimpses into their life with their daughters. In fact, just last month, Michelle opened up about the pressures her children face due to having a father who was elected president.
"We joke about it as 'the Obama tax' for them," she quipped during an April 29 appearance on SiriusXM's Let's Talk Off Camera with Kelly Ripa. "It's something you'll carry with you forever, but it also comes with many perks." The author of "Becoming" continued, "I strive to make this seem normal for them, because you don't want them to think they're overly important, that any of this revolves around them, or that their job is to live up to certain expectations."
Sharing the mindset she wishes for her children to adopt, Michelle added, "This world doesn't revolve around you. This is simply your dad's job."
