BBC delayed Ozzy Osbourne film due to 'family's wishes'

The BBC has revealed that it made an eleventh-hour decision to postpone a poignant documentary chronicling the twilight years of Ozzy Osbourne, out of profound respect for the sentiments of his beloved family. Entitled "Ozzy Osbourne: Coming Home," the film was slated for a prime-time broadcast on BBC One at 9:00 PM BST on August 18th, but it was mysteriously wiped from the schedule mere hours before its premiere.

In a heartfelt statement, the BBC conveyed, "Our thoughts and condolences are with the Osbourne family during this period of profound sorrow. In accordance with the family's heartfelt wish to allow a little more time to pass, we have chosen to honor their request. The revised air date for this extraordinary film will be communicated shortly."

Initially, no explanation was forthcoming regarding the postponement of the documentary, which was set to encapsulate Ozzy's return to UK shores, his poignant farewell concert in July, and his passing at the age of 76 later that same month. It was only on Monday that the BBC acknowledged the film had undergone a "scheduling adjustment," with an episode of "Fake Or Fortune?" taking its place.

Originally conceived as a 10-part series titled "Home to Roost," the documentary was intended to follow Ozzy and his wife Sharon's journey to "reboot their lives" in Buckinghamshire. However, as Ozzy's health started to decline, the series was reimagined into a poignant, one-hour film capturing the final three years of his extraordinary life.

The BBC had heralded the documentary as a "touching and motivating narrative of Ozzy's final chapter, rendered through unprecedented and intimate access to the entire Osbourne clan, including Sharon, Jack, and Kelly." Yet, its screening was timed less than a month after his demise and barely three weeks following an emotionally charged appearance by Sharon and their children in his hometown of Birmingham, on the eve of his funeral.
