At the prestigious Cannes Film Festival, Bella Hadid paid a poignant tribute to the late fashion icon by adorning the red carpet in a custom-made Schiaparelli gown that bore a striking resemblance to the attire worn by the legendary actress and singer, Jane Birkin, nearly six decades prior. The 29-year-old model's ensemble was designed by Schiaparelli's artistic director, Daniel Roseberry, and was crafted with an intricate trompe l'œil lace embroidery composed of cords and anchor threads.

The gown, which took a staggering 22,160 hours of embroidery work and the expertise of 130 artisans to create, featured a plunging neckline accentuated by a black pendant and a tiered mermaid train. Hadid completed her look with diamond earrings and a geometric diamond ring, along with a sleek updo that added to the elegance of her ensemble.

The dress bore several of the same details as Birkin's iconic gown from 1969, including the same black beaded embellishment that held the plunging neckline together and a strikingly similar lace embroidery pattern. While Birkin's dress featured slightly shorter sleeves and a shift dress shape, Hadid's gown reached to her wrists and featured a form-fitting silhouette that contrasted beautifully with the tiered mermaid bottom.

Hadid's stunning dress was worn for the screening of "La Bataille De Gaulle: L'Âge De Fer," which chronicles the famous French general's military career and is set to debut on June 10. The model's appearance at the festival not only paid homage to a late fashion icon but also showcased her own style and appreciation for the art of fashion.
