My Royal Nemesis – K-drama Episode 2 1

At Dal-su's quiet dinner, his family, including his two daughters and nephew Mun-do, gather. While the ladies act fake nice, Mun-do pretends to be sincere, though his true motives are unclear. He recently donated a kidney to Dal-su, who dotes on him. Se-gye arrives late and is greeted with judgmental looks from the family. He learns that the protesters were upset over unpaid wages, but Son resolved it by paying them. This revelation suggests that someone is paying the protesters for assassination attempts on Se-gye's life. Se-gye orders Son to investigate Kang's background, wondering if her appearance wasn't a coincidence. However, they are surprised to find that Seo-ri has a clean record with no shady past.

At Seo-ri's home, Kang meets her grandmother, Ok-sun. Ok-sun dotes on Kang and gives her money, proud of her. In Seo-ri's tiny apartment with thin walls and no view, Kang confronts her neighbor Baek Gwang-nam for making noise but puts him in his place, much to the delight of the other neighbors. A flashback shows Kang being bullied by other court maids when she first joined the palace as a maid. They lock her in a box in an empty courtyard where she screams for help.

Se-gye dreams of sleeping in an empty Joseon-style courtyard and hears a woman scream for help. Could it be a coincidence? Back to Kang, she reads Seo-ri's diary which reveals that the latter is pitiful and lets everyone walk over her. She used to be a child star but now works as a small-time actress and takes care of Ok-sun despite earning nothing. She wants to make it big for her sake. Kang decides to live life to the fullest for herself and Seo-ri. Her days are filled with catching a pervert spying on the female residents, scolding Gwang-nam for stealing their food, and learning Korea's history through YouTube.

Meanwhile, Mun-do gifts his friend Dr. Seon Jeong-hyeon a plant for opening a new clinic. It has a bug hidden inside, and he overhears Se-gye ranting about Seo-ri and his dream. Jeonghyeon suggests that the universe is telling him to find love, but Se-gye scoffs at the idea. Mun-do wonders if Seo-ri could be Se-gye's weakness. The episode ends with a cliffhanger, leaving viewers eager to see what happens next in this thrilling tale of love, betrayal, and power struggles in the palace.

Once her finances ran dry, Kang desperately sought employment from Se-gye, but to no avail. She was left with no choice but to borrow money from the fortune-teller, all while venting about Se-gye's ingratitude.

The director of the period drama, known for his abusive behavior, had his assistant leak Kang's scenes as a means of highlighting the plight of uncredited stand-ins. Her viral fame even caught Biojei's attention, who considered hiring her as the face for Dynaestie. Of course, Se-gye refused.

Kang quickly depleted the fortune-teller's money on sweets and tried to secure a part-time job. However, her unyielding attitude and lack of modern skills hindered her prospects. Two weeks later, she was still trending online. Se-gye finally decided to hire her before the competition did, ordering Son to find her, but she was unreachable.

It turned out that Gwang-nam was a part-time extra and was helping Kang secure live shopping modeling gigs to convince the other residents to be nicer to him. She was so skilled that she sold out every product she marketed. However, things went awry when she was asked to promote a tonic in a bowl, which reminded her of the poison she was forced to drink. She suffered from PTSD and ran away. The director was so enraged that he tried to hit her.

Se-gye found her just in time and stopped him. Se-gye suddenly treated her kindly, leaving her confused. Before he could make his offer, Mun-do appeared, causing her to panic again. It turned out that the King had the same face as Mun-do and that he was the one who ordered her execution.

Kang feared that Mun-do was there for her and asked Se-gye to be her shield. She hugged him, surprising him. In the past, a man who resembled Se-gye, wearing a half-mask, had rescued Kang from the courtyard box.
