Bella Hadid is lifting the veil on her inner world. The 29-year-old supermodel has offered a raw, unfiltered glimpse into her mental health odyssey, chronicling her battles with anxiety and depression in a heartfelt tribute to World Mental Health Day, which fell on October 10.
"Something I’ve carried silently for years is the weight of anxiety and depression," she wrote in her October 12 Instagram post. "It can feel all-consuming, paralyzing, and invisible to the outside world—leaving you in tears before your day even begins, wondering why your mind feels so heavy when the world around you seems so bright."
Acknowledging the "deep sense of shame" that often shadows mental health struggles, Bella continued, "I sometimes wonder how life has blessed me with so much, yet my body and mind are regularly weighed down by sadness, depression, and crippling anxiety."
Yet, the model emphasized that over time, she’s learned to reframe her mental health challenges not as flaws, but as integral threads of her identity. "My sensitivity, my awareness, my empathy," she reflected. "In many ways, they’re a superpower. They’re what make us human, and these parts of me have deepened my understanding of myself and others."
She extended a heartfelt reminder to anyone wrestling with their own mental health: "You’re not alone." Grateful for her partnership with UNICEF, which advocates for global mental health access, she declared, "Mental health care isn’t a luxury—it’s a right. No matter who you are, where you come from, or what your story looks like, your pain and your healing matter… so, so much."
Accompanying her poignant caption—which included links to mental health resources—Bella shared a carousel of images and graphics centered on emotional well-being. One note read, "Tell someone how much they mean to you. We all really need it right now."
Her candid revelation arrives less than a month after she opened up about her physical health struggles, navigating the lingering effects of Lyme disease. On September 17, alongside a collage of photos—some depicting her idyllic summer in a quaint European town, others showing her connected to medical IVs and tubes—she wrote, "I’m sorry I always go MIA. I love you guys."
Her mother, Yolanda Hadid, later praised Bella’s resilience in a September 18 post. "You are relentless and courageous," Yolanda wrote. "I admire your bravery and your willingness to keep fighting for health despite failed protocols and countless setbacks."
She added, "I am so proud of the fighter that you are."
