The 37-year-old talent revealed that he frequently finds himself reaching for the Shazam app to identify a tune that catches his fancy, only to discover it's one of his own creations. "Imagine sitting in a restaurant, thinking, 'Wow, this song is fantastic!' and then Shazam-ing it only to find out it's yours," he chuckled, the mirth evident in his voice.
With a career spanning an impressive 16 years, Blanco boasts hits like Britney Spears' "Circus," Kesha's "TiK ToK," and Ed Sheeran's "Happier" under his belt. He has also collaborated extensively with his fiancée, Selena Gomez, on numerous projects, including their album I Said I Love You First, a heartfelt testament to their shared relationship experiences. However, their hectic schedules have forced them to put their wedding plans on the backburner. "We just need to slow down a bit," Blanco admitted. "We've both been buried under work."
The whirlwind of their lives has indeed made planning a wedding a monumental challenge. "We got engaged, then dived straight into filming music videos for our album, followed by holidays, and then right after, it was time to promote our stuff," he elaborated. Gomez's commitments to filming Only Murders in the Building and its promotional activities only exacerbated their packed schedules. Yet, amidst the chaos, they remain "thrilled" about their future together.
When quizzed about how he manages to overlook his own music, Blanco joked about the ravages of time, saying, "I'm getting old and my memory is shot. Plus, I've churned out hundreds of songs by now." He compared it to his podcast host, Jake Shane, trying to recall every guest he's interviewed if he'd been doing it for as long as Blanco has been making music.
