Billy Porter has shared an uplifting update on his health journey after being hospitalized with a "severe case of sepsis," captivating his fans' hearts through an Instagram video on Monday. Despite the "very challenging four months," he beams with hope, announcing, "I'm on the road to a full recovery."

The Tony and Emmy Award winner begins his message with a heartfelt greeting, "Happy holidays, Merry Christmas, Happy Kwanzaa, Happy Hanukkah, and everything in between." He then shares a personal struggle that some may not be aware of: "I was very ill this fall with urosepsis, and it was not easy. It's been a very, very challenging four months. But I want everyone to know that I am on the road to recovery. I'm not there yet, but I'm on that journey."
Choking back tears, Porter expresses his gratitude for the "prayers, love, and vibes" he received from his fans. "I felt every single one of them," he says emotionally. "And I know that I'm alive today because of my fans."
The Cabaret Broadway run was cut short in September after Porter withdrew from the production as he recovered from his health scare. Urosepsis, a serious form of sepsis where the body responds improperly to an infection and specifically a severe complication of a Urinary Tract Infection (UTI) that spreads to the bloodstream, as explained by the Mayo Clinic.
Porter, who is set to star in the upcoming film Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping, concludes his post with a message of gratitude and joy, "She's ALIVE!!! Proof of life, PTL!!! Thank you all for your thoughts, prayers, and healing energy. Merry Christmas to one and all! AND… Check out my new film Christmas Karma on Amazon Prime!"
