Noah Cyrus has showered her father with praise amidst a seemingly tumultuous family saga. On Friday, the 25-year-old shared a now-defunct Instagram story post, heaping accolades on her dad Billy Ray Cyrus' latest track, as reported by People. She penned, "I'm incredibly proud of my Dad's astounding new single 'LOST,' featuring my cherished old friends [Sam Tinnesz] and [Tommee Profitt]."
This heartfelt tribute emerged shortly after her elder brother Trace penned an emotional open letter to Billy Ray last month, pleading for him to mend fences with the family and hinting at a strained relationship between the father and his daughter. Trace wrote, "You might be upset with me for posting this, but honestly, I couldn't care less at this point. My sisters and I have been genuinely concerned about you for years, yet you've alienated us all. Noah has desperately wanted you to be a part of her life, but you've failed to be there for her. She's your little girl, and she deserves much better. Somehow, despite everything, she still holds you in high esteem, just like me."
Billy Ray adopted Trace and his sister Brandi when he married Tish Cyrus in 1992. Together, they welcomed Miley Cyrus, Braison Cyrus, and Noah before their divorce in 2022. The singer is also the father of Christopher Cyrus with his ex-wife Kristin Luckey.
In his letter, the 35-year-old Trace also expressed grave concerns about Billy Ray's health, stating, "We're all clinging to memories of the man we once knew and hoping for the day he returns to us. You're not well, Dad, and everyone can see it. Just as I surprised you by attending Mamaw's funeral when you didn't expect me to, I'm still here for you now."
On Monday, January 20th, Billy Ray took the stage to serenade the audience with hits like "Old Town Road" and "Achy Breaky Heart" in celebration of President Donald Trump's inauguration, despite encountering technical glitches. Afterwards, Billy Ray shared, "I wouldn't have missed the honor of performing at this prestigious event, even if my microphone, guitar, and monitors had failed. I was there because President Donald J. Trump invited me. I had a blast at the Liberty Ball last night, and I've learned over the years that when the producer says, 'You're on,' you entertain the folks regardless of the equipment malfunctioning."
"I was truly present for the people, and we shared an unforgettable experience," read the heartfelt post on Instagram. "That, my friends, is the essence of rock n' roll!!!" Trace, however, followed up his initial letter with another message, revealing that his adoptive father was threatening him with legal repercussions due to the contents of his first letter.
"Dad, my message was imbued with love beyond measure. I could have laid bare many more truths, but I chose not to expose your affairs in such a manner," he penned. "But for you to resort to threatening me with legal action merely because I want you to seek help is truly shameful."
On January 26th, Billy Ray seemingly responded to his son's remarks by uploading a clip of his 2009 music video, "Somebody Said a Prayer," featuring Trace, to his YouTube account. Alongside the video, Billy Ray captioned, "Sunday calling. Grateful for the California rain. Praying for the brokenhearted and their sorrows. Praying for my family—my sons, daughters, and their mother. May this moment serve as the beginning of healing for us all. 'The past does not dictate the future.' Amen."
In a comment to People magazine, Braison, who collaborated with Billy Ray on his latest album, offered his perspective on the ongoing conflict between his father and brother. "I harbor no ill will towards anyone in my family," he assured the outlet.
