Christy Carlson Romano, a veteran of TV shows like "Kim Possible" and "Even Stevens," a podcasting pioneer, and a Broadway luminary, shared a heartfelt video on Instagram over the weekend, detailing her journey of recovery from a harrowing clay pigeon-shooting accident that left her face injured.
"It was my husband's birthday yesterday, and to celebrate, I gifted him an exhilarating clay pigeon shooting experience," Romano posted on her social media account on Saturday, her words painted with a backdrop of emotion. "However, another group joined us and, in a moment of gross negligence, fired their shotguns in the wrong direction, striking me square in the face."
She recounted how her husband, Brendan Rooney, "instantly sprang into heroic action," rushing her to the hospital with unwavering dedication. There, doctors revealed that she had been hit in five separate spots, each mark a testament to the perilous nature of the incident.
"One fragment missed my right eye by a hair's breadth," she recounted, her voice tinged with a hint of disbelief. "Tragically, a shard became lodged behind my eye, making surgical removal too perilous at this juncture," she added, noting that medical professionals would continue to keep a vigilant watch over her condition.
"Miraculously, my vision remains unaffected for now," she continued, her gratitude shining through despite the circumstances. "Amidst the chaos, all I can think about is how profoundly grateful I am to be alive. My love for my daughters, my husband, my family, and my friends overflows within me. In that fleeting moment when I feared for my life, I was reminded of how fragile and precious existence truly is. So, I urge you, cherish every opportunity to embrace those around you. Life can alter in the blink of an eye."
The post, accompanied by images of Romano's face bearing cuts, bruises, and swelling, particularly around her eyes, served as a poignant reminder of the accident's impact.
Romano and Rooney, a writer-producer, tied the knot in 2013 and have since welcomed two adorable daughters into their world.
