BLACKPINK is making a triumphant return! The renowned K-pop ensemble, adorned with numerous accolades, is officially reuniting with fresh tunes and embarking on a tour in 2025, as revealed by YG Entertainment's founder, Yang Hyun-suk, in a video posted on BLACKPINK's YouTube channel. "Get ready for BLACKPINK's highly anticipated comeback," he stated in the clip, uploaded on July 21, with the Korean dialogue translated into English. "And mark your calendars, as this will also be the year BLACKPINK initiates their global tour." Hyun-suk further emphasized, "We are leaving no stone unturned to ensure that numerous YG artists can reconnect with their myriad fans."
BLACKPINK's last tour in 2022 was a monumental success, encompassing 66 shows and selling over 1.8 million tickets. Despite never officially disbanding, each of the four members—Jennie, Lisa, Rosé, and Jisoo—pursued individual musical journeys by signing solo contracts. Subsequently, in 2023, all four re-signed with YG Entertainment under the BLACKPINK moniker, according to the BBC.
On June 20, BLACKPINK revealed on Instagram that their 2022 tour had been immortalized in a concert film titled "BLACKPINK WORLD TOUR BORN PINK IN CINEMAS," set for limited screenings starting July 31. The group also announced on Weverse on July 19 that they would be hosting an exclusive signing event on August 8 for 88 fortunate fans who "have eloquently expressed their love for BLACKPINK through heartfelt fan letters, captivating drawings, cherished photos, or enchanting narratives of their memorable moments with the group." This contest is exclusively accessible to BLINK Membership subscribers.
This South Korean girl band, whose moniker is inspired by the harmonious blend of the tough "black" and playful "pink" facets evident in their music and stage personas, first garnered fame with their 2016 single "Boombayah," which swiftly ascended to the top of Billboard's World Digital Songs chart. Their second studio album, "Born Pink" (2022), reigned supreme on U.S. and U.K. album charts, further cementing their legendary status, which culminated in a headline performance at Coachella in 2023.
Individually, BLACKPINK's members have also shone brightly. Jisoo starred in the JTBC historical K-drama series "Snowdrop," which is also available for streaming on Disney+. Jennie was named the face of Hera, a Seoul-based beauty brand, in 2021, and appeared alongside Lily-Rose Depp in HBO's "The Idol." Rosé released her solo project, "R," in March 2021, while Lisa unveiled her debut solo venture, "LALISA," in September 2021, featuring the tracks "Lalisa" and "Money." "Lalisa" won the MTV Video Music Award for Best K-pop Video in 2022, garnered a Guinness World Record, and shattered numerous YouTube viewership records.
