Blake Moynes Claims He Was Nearly the Bachelor Last Year: ‘Went in a Different Direction’

Published: Apr 11 2025

Blake Moynes isn't ready to flip the final page on his reality TV journey just yet. "There have been a couple of close calls," the 34-year-old revealed on Jax Taylor's "In the Mind of a Man" podcast on April 10th. "Last year, I almost became the leading man on 'The Bachelor,' but things took a different turn. There was also a Netflix opportunity that wasn't quite my cup of tea, and I had to pass. Plus, a Bravo show is in the pipeline—we'll see where that leads."

Moynes assured Taylor that his small screen days aren't over just yet: "I'm being selective, choosing what aligns best with my current endeavors." His globe-trotting lifestyle, he shared, complicates matters when it comes to committing to certain projects. "Timelines don't always match up, and sometimes it's just not worth the effort," he explained.

Recently, Bachelor Nation's hearts fluttered when Grant Ellis took the helm, wrapping up season 29 with an engagement to Juliana Pasquarosa. Blake first caught Bachelor Nation's eye when he competed for Clare Crawley's affection in season 16 of 'The Bachelorette' in 2020. After Crawley left early, engagement in hand with Dale Moss, Moynes turned his focus to Tayshia Adams. Though he didn't find his soulmate in Adams, he returned for Katie Thurston's season 17, ending the show engaged before their 2021 split. His subsequent stint on 'Bachelor in Paradise' also ended without a romance, leaving him single once more.

Despite their breakup, Moynes revealed on Thursday that he remains in touch with Thurston, 34. "It took some time, but she showed up on 'Bachelor in Paradise' when I was there in 2023," he recounted. "We hadn't spoken since our engagement ended. Two years later, we had a heart-to-heart. Since then, we've kept in sporadic touch."

Addressing Thurston's public battle with breast cancer, disclosed in February, Moynes said, "I've been following her journey closely. I listen to her podcasts regularly. Though we're not on phone calls like exes might be, I did send her a lengthy video message, offering my unwavering support."

He continued, "It's terrifying, but I know her. She's a fighter. I'm optimistic about her approach. To me, this is just a small bump in the road for her. She's handling it with grace, sharing her treatment journey publicly."
