Brooklyn Beckham Says Mom Victoria 'Hijacked' His Wedding Dance with Nicola Peltz and 'Danced Very Inappropriately on Me'

In a dramatic break from his silence on the estrangement from his parents, David and Victoria Beckham, Brooklyn Beckham has claimed that his mother not only "hijacked" his first dance with his wife, Nicola Peltz Beckham, at their 2022 wedding, but also danced "very inappropriately" with him.

In a series of explosive Instagram Stories posts shared on Monday, January 19, the 26-year-old recounted the incident: "My mum hijacked my first dance with my wife, which had been planned weeks in advance to a romantic love song. In front of our 500 wedding guests, Marc Anthony called me to the stage, where in the schedule was planned to be my romantic dance with my wife, but instead my mum was waiting to dance with me."

Brooklyn continued, "She danced very inappropriately on me in front of everyone," adding that he has "never felt more uncomfortable or humiliated in my entire life." The couple's planned vow renewal in August 2025, which would have come over three years after their first wedding in Palm Beach in April 2022, was intended to create new memories of their wedding day that would bring them joy and happiness, not anxiety and embarrassment.

A rep for David and Victoria did not respond to PEOPLE's request for comment. Brooklyn's explosive claims align with the account of a source close to his wife's family, who recalled the alleged dance hijacking with PEOPLE last year. The source claimed that tensions between the Beckham family and the couple finally came to a head after Victoria, 51, allegedly hijacked a dance at the 2022 nuptials.

"Marc Anthony, who is a friend of the Beckhams, offered to perform as a gift at the wedding," the source explained. "Before the song began, Marc Anthony asked Brooklyn to come to the stage and then announced, 'The most beautiful woman in the room tonight, come on up... Victoria Beckham!'" The source claimed that the new bride allegedly "felt that" the Beckham family matriarch had "ruined her wedding and couldn't understand why." At the time, a second insider added that the entire room was so shocked that Anthony called Victoria's name over Nicola's that a silence followed. "It was such a jaw-dropping moment that it left the whole room in absolute shock - you could hear a pin drop," added the second source.

In Brooklyn's new posts, the eldest Beckham son made several other claims about his high-profile parents and family, detailing how tensions rose leading up to he and Nicola's 2022 nuptials, even before the alleged dance hijacking. "The night before our wedding," Brooklyn wrote in part, "members of my family told me that Nicola was 'not blood' and 'not family.'" He also claimed in the posts that his "parents have been trying endlessly to ruin my relationship since before my wedding, and it hasn't stopped."

Some of his parents' alleged efforts to "ruin" his relationship with Nicola centered on the model-actress's wedding gown, which was originally meant to be a Victoria Beckham design. "My mum cancelled making Nicola's dress in the eleventh hour despite how excited she was to wear her design, forcing her to urgently find a new dress," Brooklyn wrote. (A Peltz family insider previously shared a similar account of the alleged wedding dress drama with PEOPLE.)

"During the wedding planning," he said in the post, "my mum went so far as to call me 'evil' because Nicola and I chose to include my Nanny Sandra and Nicola's Naunni at our table because they both didn't have their husbands. Both of our parents had their own tables equally adjacent to ours."

The eldest Beckham sibling also claimed that "weeks before our big day, my parents repeatedly pressured and attempted to bribe me into signing away the rights to my name, which would have affected me, my wife, and our future children." "They were adamant on me signing before my wedding date because then the terms of the deal would be initiated," he continued. "My holdout affected the payday, and they have never treated me the same since."

A source with knowledge of the situation told PEOPLE earlier this year that "David and Victoria have repeatedly asked Brooklyn and Nicola to meet and talk in order to move forward." "David loves his kids," said the insider of Brooklyn, 26, and younger sons Romeo, 23, and Cruz, 20, and daughter Harper, 14. "They are his everything."

Multiple sources have shared that David and Victoria have tried to make amends with Brooklyn and Nicola, 31, when the feud allegedly began over Nicola's wedding gown. Last May, a source reiterated to PEOPLE that David and Victoria were unhappy with the rift with their son. "The relationship is definitely not beyond repair," an insider told PEOPLE in early May. "They love and are always there for [Brooklyn]. They're just hurt and disappointed that he's now playing no part in family life."
