Cameron Boyce's mother, Libby, has publicly expressed her profound gratitude towards Adam Sandler for the heartfelt tribute he subtly incorporated into "Happy Gilmore 2," a touching gesture dedicated to the late actor. At the sequel's outset, Sandler's character, Happy Gilmore, approaches a golf check-in booth, seamlessly transitioning the scene to two individuals behind the counter engrossed in a television show. It is at this juncture that viewers catch a fleeting glimpse of Boyce on the small screen, seemingly from an episode of his Disney Channel series "Jessie," where he portrayed Luke Ross from 2011 to 2015.
Libby Boyce took to Instagram on Sunday, sharing, "Adam and Cameron shared many heartfelt conversations in the days preceding Cameron's passing. He was meant to be part of [Hubie Halloween], and they were actively strategizing together. Their bond was forged through authenticity, humor, and an unwavering commitment to staying real. Adam continues to find ingenious ways to keep Cameron's memory alive, and it fills our hearts with warmth."
In a subsequent post on Monday, she appended a screenshot from the new movie, captioning it, "Thank you, @adamsandler, for honoring Cameron's legacy within the realm of 'Happy Gilmore 2.'"
Boyce and Sandler's collaborative journey began with the 2010 film "Grown Ups," where Boyce starred as Keithie Feder, one of Sandler's character Lenny's sons. They both reprised their roles in the 2013 sequel, "Grown Ups 2." Renowned for his roles in "Descendants," "Jessie," and "Mrs. Fletcher," Boyce passed away peacefully in his sleep due to a seizure related to a pre-existing medical condition, as conveyed by a family spokesperson at the time. Ever since his untimely demise, Sandler has consistently spoken in high esteem of Boyce, further paying tribute to him in the credits of his 2020 film, "Hubie Halloween."
