Cameron Diaz has made her triumphant return to the Hollywood spotlight. As she stages her comeback, the actress—who emerged from retirement in 2022 to star in "Back in Action"—graced the red carpet once again after a five-year hiatus. For the January 15th premiere of the action-packed comedy in Berlin, Cameron opted for a timeless all-black ensemble, donning a sheer blouse paired with high-waisted jeans and penny loafers. She complemented her monochrome look with a sleek wool coat, dazzling gold jewelry from Jennifer Fisher, and a bold red lip.
The 52-year-old beauty was accompanied by her co-star Jamie Foxx, whom she credited with convincing her to return to acting. "I couldn't refuse Jamie," Cameron, who previously worked with the Oscar winner on "Any Given Sunday" in 1999 and "Annie" in 2014, told Fortune last year. "He said, 'Come with me.' And I was like, 'Alright, let's do it.' This is our third film together."
For Cameron, who is no stranger to the limelight thanks to her role in "Charlie's Angels," filming "Back in Action" felt like a full-circle moment. "The last movie I made was 'Annie' with Jamie," she revealed during an appearance on "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon" in 2022. "And now, the first movie I'm back in is this film with Jamie again." She added about her frequent collaborator, "He's amazing, so easy to work with, so professional, and incredibly talented."
As for her reasons behind stepping away from Hollywood in the first place, Cameron shared her thoughts with CBS News in 2022. "Making movies is a unique skill set that's enjoyable to practice and be a part of," she said. "But yes, it's a distinct lifestyle. You need to be prepared for that." With over 40 films to her credit since her acting debut in the '90s, Cameron felt it was the right time to focus on other aspects of her life, including starting a family with her husband of five years, Benji Madden.
"When you're doing something you're skilled at and have mastered, and it's consumed your entire life for so long," explained Cameron, who welcomed daughter Raddix in 2019 and son Cardinal in 2024, "it's refreshing to step back, take a broader look at your life, and ask yourself, 'What else can I do to feel more fulfilled and engaged?'" She continued, "And that's what I did."
But Cameron isn't the only celebrity who has taken a break from their career.
