Leonardo DiCaprio has thrown himself into the relief efforts for the devastating wildfires. The Oscar-winning actor and dedicated environmentalist has pledged a million-dollar donation through his organization, Re:wild, and its rapid response program. These funds will be strategically allocated to address both the immediate needs and the post-fire rehabilitation, with initial assistance swiftly benefiting entities such as the L.A. Fire Department Foundation, the California Fire Foundation, World Central Kitchen, the California Community Foundation, the Pasadena Humane Society, and the SoCal Fire Fund.

On Wednesday, DiCaprio made the announcement on Instagram Stories with a heartfelt message: "The Los Angeles wildfires are tearing our city apart," accompanied by a list of the aforementioned organizations. Re:wild, founded by a consortium of conservation scientists alongside the actor, is an environmental conservation organization hailed by insiders as a "force multiplier." It bridges Indigenous peoples, local communities, influential leaders, NGOs, governments, companies, and the public to collectively "protect and restore nature."

DiCaprio, who has spent considerable time residing along the Malibu coast, heavily impacted by the Palisades Fire, is the latest high-profile individual to step forward with a significant financial commitment to relief efforts. Eva Longoria and her foundation have also pledged a million dollars to support the Latino Community Foundation, led by Julián Castro, and the California Community Foundation. These funds are aimed at addressing both the immediate needs and long-term recovery for those affected by both the Palisades and Eaton fires.

As the Palisades and Eaton blazes wrought catastrophic destruction across the Westside of Los Angeles, extending to Altadena and neighboring regions, Hollywood studios, streaming services, agencies, and nonprofits have rallied together to provide crucial support. The CAA Foundation, the philanthropic arm of the Creative Artists Agency; CORE (Community Organized Relief Effort), the aid organization co-founded by Sean Penn and Ann Lee; and the Los Angeles Unified School District Education Foundation have jointly launched the SoCal Fire Fund.

Disney has donated $15 million, while Warner Bros. Discovery has committed $15 million for relief efforts. Amazon, Comcast, and Netflix have each directed $10 million, and Sony has pledged an additional $5 million. Paramount Global and Fox Corp have each added $1 million to the cause. Earlier today, YouTube and Google announced a $15 million commitment, along with offering studio space to creators affected by the disaster.
