This is real, and it's unfolding before our eyes. The filming of *Camp Rock 3* has officially commenced, and some of its most iconic campers are making a triumphant return to the musical stage. Joe Jonas, Nick Jonas, and Kevin Jonas are all set to reprise their roles as Connect 3 (Shane Gray, Nate Gray, and Jason Gray) in the highly anticipated third installment of the beloved Disney Channel original movie. Meanwhile, Demi Lovato—who mesmerized audiences as Mitchie Torres—will be joining the brothers behind the scenes as an executive producer.
"The story picks up as Connect 3 finds themselves without an opening act for a major reunion tour. They return to their cherished Camp Rock in search of the next big sensation," reads a press release dated September 17. "As campers compete for the coveted opportunity to open for their favorite band, tensions flare, friendships are put to the test, and unexpected alliances, revelations, and romances emerge."
*Camp Rock 3* will also feature a familiar face: Maria Canals-Barrera is set to reprise her role as Connie Torres. Additionally, newcomers Sherry Cola, Liamani Segura, Malachi Barton, and Lumi Pollack will make their debuts in the franchise. Joe—who starred alongside his brothers and Demi in both *Camp Rock* and *Camp Rock 2: The Final Jam*—even gave his followers a sneak peek at his time on set in Vancouver, British Columbia.
In a September 17 Instagram video, the "Burnin’ Up" singer dons a leather jacket, sunglasses, and a red and white T-shirt as he declares, “I’m Shane Gray for crying out loud,” while the camera pans back to reveal a dock emblazoned with “Camp Rock 3.” Confirming that the project is underway, Joe captioned the video, “Close enough. Welcome back Shane Gray.”
In a follow-up post, Joe was joined by Nick and Kevin to recreate their iconic limo scene, where they send Shane Gray off to camp, accompanied by the caption, “Good morning campers.”
Though Demi won’t be returning to the screen, she took to her Instagram Story on September 17 to react to the announcement, writing alongside the official artwork, “Another one but make it camp!! Good luck to this next class of campers.”
The news comes a month after Joe accidentally let slip that the movie—which has yet to announce a release date—was in the works. During an August 12 appearance on *Hot Ones Versus*, Joe was challenged to read the latest entry in his notes app, prompting him to open his phone and exclaim aloud, "Read *Camp Rock 3*."
For her part, Demi—who recently shared the stage with the Jonas Brothers during their concert in Rutherford, New Jersey—kept fans guessing about her further involvement in the film until this official announcement. Indeed, during the September 16 episode of *Watch What Happens Live*, the "Confident" singer teased the possibility of returning to the screen for the next jam.
“I saw that Joe said something,” Demi, 33, told host Andy Cohen. “And I’m really excited for the new generation to take the lead. And yeah, you’ll just have to wait and see.”
