Cardi B has declared in court that she did not assault a security guard, Emani Ellis, who has filed a lawsuit against her, claiming the rapper scratched her cheek with a sharp fingernail and spat on her. The dramatic encounter unfolded outside an obstetrician's clinic in Los Angeles back in 2018, a time when Cardi B was carrying her unborn child in secret.
Cardi B recounted how Ellis had been trailing her and filming her without her permission. The rapper assertively stated her confrontation with Ellis never escalated to physical violence. "I didn't lay a finger on her," Cardi B emphasized. "It remained a heated verbal spat, devoid of any physical altercation."
Testifying with conviction, Cardi B narrated how Ellis had informed someone over the phone about her presence and subsequently pursued her down a hallway. She claimed Ellis appeared intent on capturing her on camera, intruding upon her privacy, and refusing to retreat. A face-off marked by a fiery "verbal duel" ensued, with Cardi B acknowledging she hurled an expletive at Ellis, commanding her to "back off." "We were both screaming at the top of our lungs," she vividly described.
However, Ellis painted a starkly contrasting picture of the events. She alleged that Cardi B accused her of spreading rumors about her visit to the doctor, hurled abusive language and threats, and subsequently assaulted her. A plastic surgeon attested to treating Ellis for a "highly sensitive" scar on her cheek, suggesting it was "most probably" inflicted by fingernails.
Ellis is seeking damages from Cardi B for assault, battery, deliberate infliction of emotional distress, negligence, and false imprisonment. Cardi B's legal counsel countered by pointing out that the rapper was "terrified for her unborn child" and accused Ellis of "altering her narrative."
