Carey Mulligan is in advanced negotiations to secure a pivotal role in "Narnia," Greta Gerwig's highly anticipated adaptation of C.S. Lewis' iconic fantasy series, "The Chronicles of Narnia." Netflix is championing this literary transformation, with Gerwig helming the screenplay and directorial duties for the sixth installment of the saga, "The Magician's Nephew."

The casting process for this ambitious project is well underway, with marquee names such as Daniel Craig, Emma Mackey, and Meryl Streep already attached. As the production team scours for its young protagonists, these luminaries stand out prominently on the casting call list.

"The Magician's Nephew," published subsequent to the renowned "The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe," functions as a prequel to the latter. It narrates the tale of two children who, through their uncle's meddling with magic, inadvertently unleash the malevolent White Witch upon turn-of-the-century London.

Craig is rumored to portray the enigmatic uncle, Mackey the sinister White Witch, and Streep lending her voice to Aslan, the regal, talking lion who reigns supreme as the King of Kings in the books. Mulligan, meanwhile, will bring to life the gravely ill mother of Digory, one half of the adventurous duo.

Netflix has refrained from commenting on the developments. Mark Gordon, Amy Pascal, and Vincent Sieber are among the producers steering this adaptation, which Gerwig has fought tirelessly to ensure receives a prestigious two-week theatrical Imax release in late 2026.

Mulligan, a triple Oscar nominee for her stellar performances in "Maestro," "Promising Young Woman," and "An Education," recently added "Saltburn" to her impressive resume. Represented by CAA, Julian Belfrage Associates, and Jackoway Austen, she continues to captivate audiences with her versatility and depth.
