Did the #SaveBlueBloods campaign successfully sway the fate of the beloved TV series? On Tuesday, June 4, during a shareholders meeting, Paramount Global's co-CEO Brian Robbins seemingly hinted at a potential spinoff for Blue Bloods, sparking renewed hope among fans. As things stand, Blue Bloods Season 14 Part 2 is set to be its final chapter, airing later this year on CBS, bringing to a close a beloved era in television history.

According to TVLine, Robbins teased during the meeting that "in TV, new franchise extensions are coming for Dexter, Billions, and Blue Bloods." He further added that "CBS' hit Fire Country shows huge promise," hinting that the show's success could pave the way for more franchise expansions. CBS has yet to comment on the possibility of a Blue Bloods spinoff.

While the expansions of Dexter and Billions' franchises were already public knowledge, the looming end of Blue Bloods has dominated headlines throughout the current season. Stars of the cop procedural, including Tom Selleck and Donnie Wahlberg, have vocally expressed their desire to continue the show for months, voicing strong opinions against its conclusion.

Most recently, Selleck told CBS News in early May that he hoped the network would reconsider its decision to end the series. "Well, that's a good question. I will continue to think that CBS will come to their senses," he said, referring to the show's final season announcement. This comment came just five days after CBS confirmed that Blue Bloods would indeed be canceled, despite the passionate pleas of the cast and fans begging for the show to continue.

"We hold this cast in the highest regard, admiring their unwavering dedication to the show. However, all good things must come to an end. Refreshing our schedule is paramount for us. Therefore, we have made a difficult decision to bring the curtains down on this remarkable series in December," CBS President Amy Reisenbach announced during a press conference on May 2.

Among the cast, Selleck has been the most outspoken about his desire to keep the show running. Ahead of the Season 14 Part 1 premiere, he confided to TV Insider that he wasn't ready to bid farewell to the series. "CBS will soon realize that countless fans share the same sentiment. The show is at its peak popularity, and I believe the numbers will only grow with the renewed interest this year. We're far from exhausting our creative ideas," he emphasized, adding, "I'm not counting the days until I can move on to something else. I love my work. Granted, the long hours can be tougher now as I'm getting older, but that's a small price to pay. I want to continue working as long as they have a place for me."

Robbins' comments left much to speculation about what a potential 'Blue Bloods' spinoff might entail. Given that the series revolves around the Reagan family, it seems like a natural choice to explore a spinoff centered around one of its members. One intriguing possibility is a legal drama set in the District Attorney's office, where Erin Reagan (Bridget Moynahan) holds court. With their electric chemistry, Donnie Wahlberg and Marisa Ramirez's characters Danny and Baez could also headline a spinoff focusing on their detective work.

Moreover, showrunner Kevin Wade previously revealed to TV Insider that Selleck's character Frank Reagan won't be hanging up his police commissioner's hat in the final season. This leaves open the possibility of a world where he continues to play a pivotal role in the drama, even in a spinoff scenario.
