Channing Tatum revealed in a recent interview with Total Film that his preparation for the enigmatic role in "Blink Twice" marked a significant departure from his previous endeavors. The star of "21 Jump Street" spoke candidly about starring in his fiancée Zoë Kravitz's directorial debut, portraying the tech billionaire Slater King in this thriller of mysteries.

"This is the first time I've ever portrayed a character quite like this," Tatum elucidated. "With every role I take on, there's usually a certain fondness or a bond I develop with them. However, this one was entirely different." He continued, "I'm not sure I'll ever divulge what inner workings I crafted to bring this individual to life. He's a psychopath, pure and simple."

In "Blink Twice," Slater crosses paths with the cocktail waitress Frida (Naomi Ackie) at his fundraising gala and extends an invitation to join him and his circle for a luxurious vacation on his secluded island. But as strange occurrences start to unfold on the island, Frida begins to question the fabric of her own reality.

Kravitz too imparted insights on the film's intensity, stemming from the characters' confinement in an unfamiliar terrain. "It was all about the dynamics of power," the actress from "The Batman" explained. "I aimed to create a scenario where the characters were isolated, for I believe that's the most terrifying situation one could encounter — whether trapped in the backseat of a car, a closet, or a dimly lit room during a party. Akin to 'Lord of the Flies,' I sought an environment where the characters had to stay put and grapple with the shifting power dynamics."

"Blink Twice" will grace the silver screens on August 23rd, promising an unforgettable journey into the twisted world of Slater King and his mystifying island getaway.
