As President Trump's tariffs continue to cast a shadow over international ties, Chantal Kreviazuk seized the moment during the NHL's 4 Nations Face-Off game against the United States to voice her stance. The talented artist, renowned for her hit "Get to You," belted out the Canadian national anthem, "O Canada," at Thursday's game held at TD Garden in Boston. However, she subtly altered the lyrics, earning herself a chorus of boos from the spectators as she took a veiled shot at their opponents. Instead of singing "true patriot love in all of us command," Kreviazuk substituted it with "that only us command," even sharing a snapshot of the revised lyric scribbled on her hand on her Instagram Story.

Recently, at both NHL and NBA matches, Canadian fans have responded to U.S. President Donald Trump's imposition of a 25% tariff on imports from Canada and Mexico, along with a 10% tariff on those from China, by booing "The Star Spangled Banner." Canada retaliated against Trump's tariff announcement, while Mexico vowed to implement "tariff and non-tariff measures."

Traditionally, at NHL and NBA games featuring teams from both countries, both national anthems are performed before the game commences. However, during the playing of "The Star-Spangled Banner" at NHL games in Ottawa, Vancouver, and Calgary, the usually reserved Canadians broke into loud boos, drowning out the U.S. anthem at times. Although the anthem was not included in the televised coverage of these games, attendees quickly shared videos of the moments online.

Similarly, in Toronto, where the Raptors, Canada's only NBA team, were set to clash with the L.A. Clippers, the same scene unfolded.
