Jack Reacher isn't the type to tolerate any foolishness, and neither is the actor who embodies him in the smash hit TV series. Alan Ritchson, the lead of Amazon Prime Video's "Reacher," showcased his candid demeanor in a GQ interview, pulling no punches when questioned about Florida politician Matt Gaetz.
"That guy...he's my nemesis," Ritchson declared in the interview. Ritchson and Gaetz were once classmates at a school in Niceville, Florida. "It astounds me that people in Florida's Panhandle continue to vote for him, despite everything we know about his closed-door promises to pardon certain criminals – he's simply not a stand-up individual!"
Gaetz, aged 42, currently doesn't occupy a political seat in Florida. In 2010, he was elected to the Florida State House, and then in 2016, he ascended to the U.S. Congress. He served as a U.S. representative until last year, when he resigned after being nominated by Donald Trump for the position of U.S. Attorney General.
However, Gaetz withdrew his nomination shortly before the House Ethics Committee issued a report detailing accusations of drug use and sexual payments, including with a 17-year-old girl.
Ritchson, also 42, revealed that his disdain for Gaetz and other politicians has sparked thoughts of running for office, albeit unlikely. "There's a part of me that wants to dive into politics to outmaneuver someone like him for the better, but another part of me realizes I'm not duplicitous enough to succeed in that realm," Ritchson confessed. "Certain individuals manage to stay true to themselves, but they're ineffective. I admire Bernie Sanders as a hero. Yet, one wonders, what has he truly accomplished?"
