Actress Chloë Grace Moretz boldly revealed her identity as a "gay woman" in an Instagram post on Friday, where she lent her voice to championing Kamala Harris while elucidating her endorsement. "The stakes in this election are incredibly high," her caption continued. "I firmly believe that the government has no authority to dictate over a woman's body; such decisions should solely reside with the individual and their doctor. Kamala Harris will safeguard this right for us all." Renowned for her roles in Kick-Ass, Carrie, and The Equalizer, Moretz further expressed her support for legal safeguards for the LGBTQ community, identifying herself as a gay woman, and exhorted her 24 million followers to cast their votes.

Moretz has been a politically engaged figure for years, having attended the 2016 Democratic National Convention alongside her then-boyfriend Brooklyn Beckham to rally for Hillary Clinton. Earlier in October, she even appeared on the Harris-Walz campaign trail at an event in Georgia.

The actress's advocacy for LGBTQ rights stands as the cornerstone of her political endeavors, deeply rooted in her upbringing with two gay brothers. "I grew up fighting on their behalf because it pained me to witness that, despite their ability to stand up for themselves, their voices often fell on deaf ears," she shared in a 2018 interview with Gay Times, the same year she portrayed a gay teenager subjected to conversion therapy in the film The Miseducation of Cameron Post.

However, after featuring in an article about straight actors portraying gay characters, Moretz cautioned a reporter from The Independent, "Don't presume anyone's sexuality." Although the actress had kept her sexuality under wraps until Friday, she had been romantically linked to model Kate Harrison since 2018. In April, People reported that the couple was spotted wearing rings on their left ring fingers, sparking engagement rumors.
