Chris Pratt is set to take center stage in an offbeat and intriguing project that's slated for release next year. The upcoming film, titled *Mercy*, will feature Pratt in the role of a detective who finds himself accused of murder and entangled in a high-stakes trial. Throughout the entire 90-minute runtime, his character is strapped to a chair, desperately trying to convince a sophisticated AI system of his innocence.
While discussing the demanding nature of his role, the *Avengers* star revealed that he made the conscious choice to be physically restrained during filming. During a panel session at New York Comic Con, Pratt shared, "I actually asked them to confine me in it. That way, I didn't have to fake the sensation of being strapped down."
The *Jurassic World* actor was determined to authentically embody the character, who is trapped in a chair under intense investigation. He elaborated, "There's a unique sense of claustrophobia that naturally arises when you're physically bound to something, and that feeling proved incredibly beneficial." Chris went on to disclose that he requested the filmmakers, "I don't want to be able to get out. I want you to lock me in so tightly that I can't escape. That will help me deliver a performance where I truly feel stuck here."
He further revealed that his character remains seated in the chair with bare feet throughout the entire film. Calling it a deliberate choice, Pratt explained that it was a nod to Bruce Willis' iconic 1988 film *Die Hard*, in which Willis's character removes his shoes to alleviate tension.
