On the first anniversary of their podcast, "MesSy," co-hosted by Christina Applegate and Jamie-Lynn Sigler, Applegate, 53, opened up about the excruciating challenges she faces daily due to her battle with multiple sclerosis. During the March 18th episode, while responding to listener messages, Applegate and Sigler, 43, addressed a fan named Kelly who had reached out about her severe gastrointestinal issues. Kelly expressed frustration over her family's lack of understanding regarding her daily vomiting and diarrhea. Interjecting empathetically, Applegate said, "Oh girl, let’s delve into that."

Applegate shared her own experiences, suggesting that these symptoms could be part of how MS manifests. She revealed, "This is crucial because since my diagnosis three years ago, I've been hospitalized over 30 times due to vomiting, diarrhea, and unbearable pain. They've subjected me to every conceivable test, exposing me to radiation through countless CT scans and more. And just last month, I believe I've cracked the code, though it might not be the case for everyone. But I'll share my thoughts nonetheless."

The former "Married... with Children" star continued, "Speak to your doctor about motility problems. MS can slow down our organs, not completely, but enough to hinder their function. And I've noticed that — let me be frank — when I need to defecate, I vomit. And when I vomit, the pain intensifies, setting off a chain reaction. I call it 'The Fight Club' within my body."

Describing her internal struggle, Applegate said, "Every part of me is at war." She encouraged Kelly to consult her doctor about this, sharing her upcoming colonoscopy appointment. "I'm about to have a heart-to-heart with the docs on Thursday. They might think I'm nuts, coming in for no apparent reason. But I'm seeing a pattern here."

According to John Hopkins Medicine, this chronic disease of the central nervous system can lead to unpredictable bladder and bowel problems. Although her neurologist dismissed it as an MS symptom, Applegate noted, "It's fascinating because Kelly has experienced the same since her diagnosis. So, there must be a connection, even if I'm not a doctor. I'm just suggesting you consider it."

She emphasized, "I'm in the exact same boat, and it's terrifying and sucks. So, that's my two cents, lady." Applegate vowed to share Kelly's story with her neurologist, urging them to think beyond textbooks. "We're not just medical case studies; we're human beings."

Addressing Kelly, Applegate asked, "Have you ever puked and had diarrhea simultaneously? That's my specialty." Sigler joked about it being a "double dragon," to which Applegate responded, "Keep a trash can beside your toilet for a mess-free double dragon. I had one yesterday; it was epic."
