Months after relocating from the United States to Spain as a family unit, actress Alejandra Silva, wife of actor Richard Gere, has offered a peek into their enchanting life abroad. On March 19th, Wednesday, Silva posted pictures of Gere with their two beloved sons to commemorate his inaugural Spanish Father’s Day.
"Feliz primer Día del Padre español para el mejor papá del mundo," the 42-year-old captioned her Instagram post. Since tying the knot in 2018, Gere, 75, and Silva have shared an unbreakable bond that began when they crossed paths during a visit to Italy in 2014.
Originating from Spain, Silva uprooted her life and moved to America to be by Gere's side as he pursued his acting career. In a heartfelt conversation with Jimmy Fallon, Gere expressed the importance of returning the favor by relocating to Spain.
"My wife is Spanish, and she granted me seven wonderful years here. Now, it's our turn to spend some years in Madrid with her family," he shared in November 2024. "Our children are bilingual, so they'll thrive in this environment."
Earlier this year, Gere and Silva opened up about their latest chapter in Spain during an interview with Elle España, who portrayed Gere as a doting family man. "Richard is an incredibly dedicated and hands-on father. He adores reading bedtime stories to them. It might seem like a picture-perfect scenario, but it's genuinely true. He's an extraordinary dad," Silva revealed.
"He doesn't cook," she laughed. "That's my domain, but when I'm in the kitchen, he strums his guitar." Gere and Silva are parents to 6-year-old Alexander and 4-year-old James. Gere is also a father to 25-year-old Homer from a past relationship, while Silva has an 11-year-old son named Albert.
"We're currently in our stride here in Spain," Gere confided to Elle España. "We've never been happier. She's at home, and if she's content, so am I."
"We share the same values," Silva added, calling Gere her "soul mate." "We perceive the world through the same lens, and from day one, it felt like we'd known each other forever. Such connections are rare, perhaps even once-in-a-lifetime occurrences... Our past lives' karma has united us," she continued.
Silva and Gere seldom showcase their family life in public. This Father's Day celebration marks another rare glimpse into their world, following their family vacation to the Maldives in February.
