Allegations levied against Nicolas Cage by his ex-partner, Christina Fulton, in a lawsuit filed last month, which also named their son, Weston Coppola Cage, as a defendant, have been dismissed. According to court documents obtained by Entertainment Weekly, Fulton's legal representative submitted a motion for Cage's dismissal on March 7th, which was granted today with prejudice, precluding Fulton from refiling the claims against Cage in this particular case.

Initially, Fulton's civil complaint accused Cage of negligence, failure to supervise properly, and undertaking duties negligently following an alleged assault perpetrated by Weston against his mother the previous year. Despite these accusations, Weston remains entangled in allegations of assault, battery, deliberate infliction of emotional distress, negligence, and careless infliction of emotional distress.

Representatives for both Cage and Fulton have been contacted by Entertainment Weekly for their comments. Weston, aged 34, is Cage's eldest offspring and the sole child shared between him and Fulton, an actress who has featured in films such as 'The Doors' and 'Bram Stoker's Dracula'. In July of last year, Weston was apprehended on felony charges for assault with a deadly weapon, mere months after another incident where he was alleged to have repeatedly punched two individuals.

It remains ambiguous whether this arrest is connected to the event that prompted Fulton to file her lawsuit in the Los Angeles County Superior Court on February 18th. Initially, Fulton downplayed reports of the altercation, describing Weston's behavior as a "mental health crisis". However, she eventually alleged that Weston had "brutally assaulted" her in an elevator, lobby, and parking lot of his condo building, inflicting "catastrophic physical, emotional, and economic damage".

The lawsuit highlights Weston's "prolonged history of mental and psychological disorders" and asserts that the younger Cage has a record of perpetrating violent assaults and batteries. Weston has been open about his battle with substance abuse and has a documented past of violent and reckless conduct, often fueled by substance use. Fulton's lawsuit pleads for Weston to "receive the direly needed assistance".

Prior to the dismissal of the claims against Cage, Fulton accused the 'Face/Off' actor of enabling his son's "reckless" lifestyle "despite being aware of Weston's history of substance abuse". The suit stated, "Nicolas was cognizant of Weston's history yet failed to intervene to prevent Weston from engaging in violent acts and harming others".

Weston's attorney dismissed the severity of his mother's accusations to TMZ in February, asserting that the lawsuit "appears to be a money grab and a plea for attention", and pointing out that "Ms. Fulton correctly informed the responding LAPD officers that her son was experiencing a mental health crisis at the time of the incident". Weston continues to confront the allegations leveled against him in Fulton's lawsuit, with the next hearing slated for May 22nd.
