Céline Dion's heart will forever remain ensnared in the embrace of René Angélil. The voice behind "Power of Love" shared a poignant message to her late husband, ten years after he departed at the age of 73, following a lengthy battle with cancer. "My love, ten years without you feels like just a single day, yet every day feels like a decade," Céline wrote on Instagram on January 14th, accompanied by a snapshot of her former talent manager's portrait leaning against a black piano. "Ten years without your tender touch, and yet every day I feel your presence."
The Grammy winner was not alone in her tribute to René, who had been managing Céline's career since she was just 12 and married her 14 years later in 1994. The post also included a message from their three sons, René-Charles Angélil, 24, and twins Nelson and Eddy Angélil, 15. "We miss you more than we can bear," the message continued, "but you taught us to be strong." They added, "We love you more every day and every year."
This isn't the first time Céline has spoken about René's passing in 2016. Shortly after the tragedy, the singer behind "My Heart Will Go On" candidly shared the complex emotions she felt during his final days. "I'm 48 years old and I lost the love of my life," she told People in 2016. "I miss him a lot from when he was great but not when he was suffering. You have to let people go. I feel at peace."
Indeed, René's health had been declining for several years before his death. In fact, in 2014, Céline canceled her Las Vegas residency to care for her husband. Two years later, she canceled another string of shows at Las Vegas' Caesars Palace to mourn his passing. "You see your husband suffer for three years, and it's not what you want to see," Céline told People. "So now I know he is well, and we live with him in a different way. And I see him through the eyes of my children every single day."
