According to CBS, Reginald "Reggie" Carroll, a Baltimore-based comedian, tragically passed away following a fatal shooting incident in Mississippi, as confirmed by the Southaven Police Department. He was 52 years old.
Authorities responded to a report of a shooting in the Burton Lane area, where they discovered Mr. Carroll suffering from gunshot wounds. Despite the lifesaving efforts undertaken at Regional One Health Hospital in Memphis, he succumbed to his injuries.
The Southaven Police Department has announced the apprehension of a suspect, who has been charged with the murder of Reggie Carroll.
Initial reports of Wednesday's shooting suggested that it was an isolated event, though the investigation is ongoing.
Following his untimely demise, Club Mobtown Comedy paid homage to the beloved Maryland resident on social media: "Rest in power, @comedianreggiecarroll. Reggie Carroll had toured the nation's comedy clubs, sharing the stage with legends like Mo'Nique, who fondly referred to him as her "brother in comedy." The Oscar-winning actress took to her Instagram Story to share her grief, stating, "This is why I say treat people the best you can because you never know if you'll get a chance to see them again. The last time my brother Reggie and I were together, girl, it was magical—an incredible time on tour, sharing the road together. Our memories are filled with joy, so I shed no tears of sorrow, only of amazement at the times we shared."
As per his IMDb page, Carroll made an appearance in a 2000 episode of the renowned live variety series, Showtime at the Apollo, filmed at the iconic Apollo Theater in Harlem. He also starred in an episode of UPN's Moesha spinoff, The Parkers, alongside Mo'Nique and Countess Vaughn. In 2023, Carroll produced and starred in the standup special Knockout Kings of Comedy, and he featured in the 2022 TV movie Rent & Go.
