The weekend witnessed an arrest in New York City involving Mingus Lucien Reedus, the 25-year-old son of "The Walking Dead" star Norman Reedus and ex-Victoria's Secret model Helena Christensen. According to police reports, Reedus was apprehended after allegedly assaulting a woman.

On Saturday, Mingus Reedus pleaded not guilty in Manhattan Criminal Court, following an incident that has left him facing multiple charges, including third-degree assault, assault causing reckless injury, criminal obstruction of breathing, second-degree harassment, and aggravated harassment.

At approximately 8:40 a.m., officers responded to an apartment on West 16th Street in the Chelsea neighborhood of Manhattan. There, they discovered a 33-year-old woman with "minor injuries" to her neck and leg, the New York Police Department confirmed to The Independent. The victim was subsequently transported to Bellevue Hospital, while Reedus was taken into custody.

According to public records, Reedus resides in the upscale Chelsea apartment where the incident occurred. Sources told The New York Post that Reedus allegedly punched the woman to awaken her, before choking her and slamming her to the ground. Following this, he reportedly called 911, claiming that a woman at the residence was ingesting pills and threatening suicide.

As Reedus was being escorted from the courthouse in handcuffs, reporters peppered him with questions about the incident. When asked why he called the police, Reedus responded, "I didn't." When prompted to "tell us what really happened," he chuckled before simply saying, "no." Speaking to The Post, Reedus dismissed the incident as a "misunderstanding," just before officers shut the car door.

A woman claiming to be Reedus' girlfriend also weighed in, stating that the arrest was the result of a significant "misunderstanding." However, it remains unclear whether this woman is the same individual who accused Reedus of assault.

Reedus' attorney, Priya Chaudhry, told NBC News that "despite what the prosecutor stated in court—which constitutes no evidence—they opted to charge Mingus with misdemeanors or lesser offenses." Chaudhry emphasized, "This speaks volumes, far louder than the prosecutor's unsupported comments made in court."

This isn't the first time Reedus has been entangled in allegations of violence. In 2022, he accepted a plea deal after being accused of punching a woman during the San Gennaro Festival in Little Italy the previous September. He ultimately pleaded guilty to disorderly conduct and was conditionally discharged, with the stipulation of counseling sessions and a year without further incidents.
