Dakota Johnson would turn down a date with a guy who dons flip-flops like they're his lucky charm. The Materialists star has a clear red flag when it comes to footwear preferences, revealing during the October 21 Questions from Everywhere digital series with Vogue, "Men who wear flip-flops, run."
She also admitted to having a particular aversion to colognes or scents on people in general. "No, I don't love it," the Madame Web actress explained. "I have a really specific olfactory situation happening for me with men and women and everyone."
Dakota isn't shy when it comes to sharing her relationship deal-breakers. The Social Network star, who ended an eight-year relationship with Chris Martin in July, previously shared what she's absolutely not looking for in a partner. "Just like, not an a--hole," she said during an interview with her Materialists costar Chris Evans, who chimed in, "That's concise. There it is. Nail on the head."
Dakota's timely response came just days after multiple outlets reported the end of her relationship with the Coldplay frontman, who shares kids Apple Martin, 21, and Moses Martin, 19, with ex-wife Gwyneth Paltrow. Though in the year leading up to their breakup, the duo, who began dating in 2017, had faced speculation they were going their separate ways. In August 2024, a rep for the couple shut down speculations of a breakup, telling E! News at the time, "Not true," adding, "they are happily together."
Prior to the split, Dakota offered rare insight into her dating life—or lack thereof. "I've never dated anybody. I've had boyfriends, but I have never been on a dating app," Dakota told Elle in May. "I just don't know that world. So, it was so interesting and intriguing. It's the most beautiful side of humanity, but it can also be the most ugly. Loving someone is the most scary and beautiful thing you can do."
