"It's daunting when creative directives stem from committees, and even more so when these decisions are handed down by individuals who scarcely indulge in cinema or possess any profound knowledge about it," Johnson conceded candidly. The star of Fifty Shades of Grey further elaborated, "When a project strikes gold, studios are inclined to milk the success dry by churning out remakes. Yet, audiences crave novelty; they yearn for fresh experiences, new perspectives, and unseen narratives. In that light, Hollywood's current state seems somewhat chaotic, doesn't it?"

In recent times, Hollywood has embarked on an IP obsession, devoting its energies to remakes and sequels of already triumphant film and television franchises that boast established fan bases. This trend has made it increasingly arduous to pitch original concepts, as studios and streaming platforms shy away from ventures perceived as uncharted or risky.

This rationale also underpins the unwavering allure of remaking immensely successful franchises like Harry Potter and Twilight. Studios have also broadened their popular TV realms over the years, spinning off hits such as Game of Thrones with House of the Dragon and The Big Bang Theory with Young Sheldon.
