Ms. Rachel, whose real name is Rachel Griffin Accurso and a renowned YouTube personality, has no grievances against Olivia Munn. Following Olivia and John Mulaney's disclosure about receiving menacing online threats, Ms. Rachel issued a heartfelt plea on social media. On June 12th, she posted on Instagram, urging, "Please extend kindness to Olivia and her cherished family. I refuse to acknowledge hate, aggression, or hurtful remarks."
Her statement emerged after Olivia expressed her reluctance to let her children, the three-year-old Malcolm and eight-month-old Méi, watch a particular educational program. However, instead of targeting Olivia, Ms. Rachel redirected the spotlight towards her advocacy work, responding to recent headlines. "I scroll through stories that seem inconsequential while the immense suffering of children goes unnoticed," she elaborated in her statement, "It tears at my heart."
The 42-year-old emphasized categorically that the uproar did not originate from any discord between her and Olivia, clarifying that such a rift "does not exist." "Olivia and I have been in communication," she highlighted, "and we have both chosen compassion."
Earlier in the month, Olivia had admitted that her children were not fond of Ms. Rachel's content. "If I can't watch it, I'm not going to let it consume my life," she told People magazine. "These children's shows drive me nuts." (The interview was subsequently taken down by the publication on June 11th amidst "violent threats" directed at Olivia and her family.)
After Ms. Rachel, who shares Thomas, 7, and Susannah, 3 months, with her husband Aron Accurso, mentioned in an Instagram comment that she would prefer to be recognized for her "advocacy for children in Gaza," Olivia stepped in to defuse the situation. "My comments were never intended to undermine the happiness, solace, and influence she brings to numerous families," Olivia posted on her Instagram Stories on June 10th. "I don't want a misquoted remark to steal even a moment of joy from anyone."
Subsequently, John, 42, condemned the "violent and threatening messages" that Olivia began receiving in her direct messages, which stemmed from the controversy. "An innocent remark my wife Olivia Munn made about our children's TV preferences has somehow been absurdly twisted into a lack of concern for the deaths of children in Gaza," he wrote on his Instagram Stories on June 11th. "The individuals responsible for this are grossly out of line and detrimental to any constructive dialogue."
